Looting Omi’s khokha, burning hay in the fields and of course experiencing the trauma with a huge SNAKE that was moving over me on my bed during the very first fortnight of my stay at our hostel. |
Brief update of 50 years |
: |
After completing the graduation, I was engaged for small periods in different capacities as
1.
works engineer,
2.
sales engineer and
3.
site engineer - Responsible and was involved in erection of 1st unit of 60 MW Faridabad thermal Plant, Faridabad, Haryana.
4. In 1973 joined Haryana state Electricity Board ( HSEB) as Sub Divisional Officer, Kalka.
5. in 1977 posted to (Northern regional Electricity Board) NREB at New Delhi to represent HSEB for coordinating interest state exchange of engery. Here I remained posted till May 1995 and then again from Aug. 1996 to may 2003. During my tenure I was involved in following assignments:
- Monitored vital parameters of Northern Grid and was responsible to maintain them within the specified limits
- Allocated energy amongst the northern States having shares in generating stations of various centrally / commonly owned generating stations in the northern region.
- Coordinated the maintenance program of both Hydro and Thermal generating stations in the Northern Region.
- Load Generation Balance studies carried out for various periods viz. Pre monsoon, post monsoon, and post winter condition.
- Forecasted of anticipated power supply position in the Northern States and the Region as a whole.
- Assigned and Monitored Monthly and Annual Generation targets of various generating stations considering the load requirement of the states and the Region.
- Coordinated Power Regulatory measures based on the power indices of generating Stations.
- Operational Statistics.
- The Global Accounting of energy exchanges between states and centrally/commonly owned Generating Stations.
- Annual Administrative Reports of NREB.
- Monthly /Fortnightly Reports of the Northern Region.
- Development of the software for the above works.
- Modified softwares to incorporate the changes in the system due to addition of a new Generating station, Sub-station or a new Transmission line.
During the period 5/95 to 8/96 I was repatriated to HSEB with my posting at Panipat thermal plant & then at Gurgaon . During my tenure at Panipat as XEN, for complete year I was involved in the completion of balance works unit #5 of 210MW and at Gurgaon the stay was for 4 months and carried out the erection of 220 Kv line.
Towards the end of my service ie, from may 2003 till superannuation on 30/09/2004 I was posted in the head office at Panchkula. Here I handled various Depts. Like System Operation, Commercial, Planning & Design and Purchase as Superintending Engineer. Finally I retired from Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Ltd. (earlier part of HSEB).
When I left NREB in 2003 for joining at panchkula, Global accounting of inter state exchanges for 16-17 months had not been finalised and was pending and remained unattended till 2005. I was recalled for a period of one and a half years to complete those pending/unattended Accounts and completed the assignment.
After finally quitting NREB I am leading a free life looking once again towards my family specially my three grandsons.
One thing I would like to bring out that NONE of the institution, where I studied or worked exists in its original name.
RECK is NITK
HSEB Does NOT Exists It is UHBVN(a Part of HSEB)
NREB is Northern Regional Power Committee |
